...i dont' know...i was randomly searching up my last name 杜 which is pronunced du in mandrin doh in cantonese....and akanashi in japanese [ or that's what google translate thignie says i swear!!! even check!] I'M A RED PEAR!! XDDD...and i write my last name as 'Do'...
anyways...on to my the origin
The 53rd most common last name in China. They are the descendents of the ancient Tao Tang tribe under leader Liu Lei., who in turn was a descendent of Yao Di. Yao made his son Zhu Dan, the duke of Tang (West of Yi in Shaanxi). The kingdom lasted through Xia and Shang and was eliminated by Zhou Gong Dan for not obeying orders. Zhou Cheng Wang awarded the descendents of Tang, the kingdom of Du (Dong Du Ling of Xian), and these people were known as Tangdu, or Du Shi. During Zhou Xuan Wangs reign, the duke of Tangdu, Du Bo, was a judge in the Zhou Dynasty. Because Du Bo was very handsome, one of the concubines of Xuan Wang had a crush on him. However, Du Bo was a righteous man, and he resisted her temptations. The concubine was embarrassed, and told Xuan Wang that Du propositioned her. In anger, Xuan Wang ordered Du to be executed. Before Du Bo died, he said, "If there is a God, let there be juctice." After three years, Xuan Wang went hunting one day, and saw what appeared to be the ghost of Du Bo. Being frightened, he fell off the horse and died. After Du Bo died, the people of the Du kingdom began to bear the last name Du.
